I hope you have been wintering well and looking forward to the warmer (?) cricketing weather in the summer. It has been great to see so many of the age groups at winter nets and at Holmer Green Senior School over the last weeks getting ready for the new season.
I thought I would issue a brief email with an overview of our plans for the 2018 outdoor season. A number of parents have been asking me, and although there are still a few things to finalise you might find the following useful to help plan activities.
We have 2 indoor net sessions left at Princes Risborough School on Sunday evenings, between 6 and 7 pm, as follows:-
Sunday 18th March - U9 through to U13s
Sunday 25th March - U14s and U15s, plus anyone else who is interested (I know the U10s are likely to attend).
Junior Section Planning Meeting
We are holding a GKCC Junior Section Planning Meeting on Friday 23rd March at 7.30 pm in the pavilion. This is the meeting at which we finalise coaching and team management arrangements as well as go though our fixtures for the summer, look at health and safety, child protection, and DBS certifications etc. The meeting will last approx 90 minutes and if any parent is interested in helping out with any of the age groups, please come and join the rest of the coaching and team management volunteers at the meeting. We would be delighted to see you.
Pavilion / Ground Clean Up
We spend a few hours prior to the season doing a general tidy up of our facilities, check nets and equipment, that sort of thing. If you can spare some time to come and help, we will be doing this on Sunday 15th April, starting at 10.00 am at the pavilion. Every hour and every helper means we can get more done, so if you can join us you would be most welcome :-))
We will start outdoor training in the week beginning Sunday 22nd April, as follows:-
U9, U10 - First session Sunday 22nd April - 10.00 am to 11.30 am
U11, U12 - First session Sunday 22nd April - 11.30 am to 13.00 pm
U13, U14, U15 - First session Monday 23rd April - 18.30 pm to 20.00 pm
U17 - First session Thursday 26th April - 18.30 p.m. to 20.00 pm (training with the seniors as previous years):_
Training will then continue on the days and times above each week until mid July.
We are particularly keen to see any boys and girls that are now too old for ECB All Stars in 2018, but attended the programme last year. They are most welcome to come to the U9, U10 sessions on a Sunday morning between 10.00 and 11.30 am.
ECB All Stars
After last year’s great success, we will run the ECB All Stars Programme again at GKCC this summer. The programme runs for 8 weeks, staring on Sunday 13th May and running to Sunday 1st July. This is targeted at 5 to 8 year old boys and girls as a fantastic introduction to cricket and a programme to help develop their skills. We will run the sessions between 10.00 am and 11.15 am on each of the Sundays. Registration for the new season has opened and in the first few days we have already had 33 boys and girls enrol, which is a fantastic start. So if you want a place, or know someone who might be interested, I would recommend you book early. The cost is £45 for the 8 sessions, for which the boys and girls get a personalised shirt and other cricketing goodies.

2018 Subscription Fees
The annual fee for joining GKCC’s junior section is:-
£50 for a single junior member
£90 for 2 siblings from the same family
£120 for 3 siblings from the same family
(ECB ALL Stars is separate from the above)
This is a small increase from last year which is required as the club are facing a number of increased costs for ground access, ground maintenance etc. However, these fees do compare very favourable with other clubs in the area and we hope that you continue to consider the fees good value for money. The match fee of £2 per match remains the same as previous years. I will provide more information about registration forms and fee collection after our planning meeting at the end of March.
I will send out a reminder about our activities a couple of weeks before the season starts. In the interim, please keep an eye on the GKCC website (http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/greatkingshillcricketclub/) for more news as it becomes available.
Many thanks for your continued interest in Great Kingshill junior cricket. We would be delighted to see you at the activities referred to above and look forward to a highly enjoyable season with you all.
