GKCC U12 v Gerrards Cross U12 - Thurs 2nd June
GKCC U12 put up a very much improved and sprited performance against top of the table Gerrards Cross U12, in a Bucks Div 1 match. On a cold evening (so much for flaming June!), GKCC skipper Tom Parker won then toss and elected to field. GKCC took steady wickets throughout the Gerrards Cross innings and restricted the opposition to 126 for 7 in their 20 overs. Tom Parker and Nic Stoian picked up 2 wickets each, with Jacob Rickett and Dinil Wanni-Arichchige also getting a wicket each. Jacob got two catches too, which was no mean feat on a freezing evening, with numb fingers. All of the other bowlers, Oscar Neil-Dwyer, Alex Dunn, Tristan van de Weg and Zac Gibson bowled tidily too. One thing for everyone to work on being the number of wides bowled. Fielding was energetic and committed and Tom did a nice job in setting his fields.
When GKCC came to bat, we got off to a good start with Oscar and Jacob adding 20 for the first week. Oscar played well indeed, continuing on to get 32 (retired), getting solid support from James Timewell. Tom and Steffan Wayne then played very nicely in the last few overs, scoring quickly to get the total up to 96 for 3 in 20 overs.
Although we lost by 30 runs, this was a much improved performance against one of the stronger teams in the division, from which all the team should take encouragement.
