Chesham Under 12 v Great Kingshill Under 12
By Richard Bruton
A comfortable win for the GKCC Under 12's
Visiting the very pleasant ground in Amy Lane Chesham on a balmy evening , our hosts decided to bat on winning the toss but due to the accurate and pacy bowling from Dylan and Tristan soon found themselves 4 wickets down for 9 runs. Dylan taking 3 wickets(all bowled) for 5 runs in his 3 overs. Tristan was not quite so accurate but achieved considerable bounce and it was that type of ball which took care of their captain who gloved a ball trying to pull a bouncer to the leg side boundary and was well taken by wicket-keeper Oli H.
The 5th wicket partnership put on 60 before Charlie H retired and who was then followed by Charlie T who also retired on 30. However the remaining batsmen were unable to cope with the accurate bowling. Brian chipped in with a wicket in his one over bowled helped by a good catch from Oscar. A run out in that same over from good fielding by Nick then followed by Will cleaning bowling their number 11 bat which kept Chesham down to 89 which was an excellent performance on a ground with short boundaries and a very fast outfield.
Knowing that only 4.5 runs per over were required the opening pair of Will and Oscar batted sensibly against accurate bowling and with the hosts knowing their ground and protecting the boundaries they took the singles and rotated the strike well. When Oscar hit a rank long hop straight down to deep square leg he was well caught by Charlie H with the score on 47. This brought in Oli H who continued to keep out the good balls and hit the bad ball for 4. Will retired on 30 for the second match running which brought in Robert. When Oli H also hit a rank long hop to square leg , trying to hit a six to win the game)he was well caught by their captain Kayan. Jacob entered the fray and with Robert scored the runs required in the 17th over to complete a very professional performance.
Well done to the team who all contributed to a well deserved win and thanks to Jo for scoring.
