Ballinger Waggoners U12A v Great Kingshill U12

GKCC U12's put in a creditable performance against a strong Ballinger team

Our hosts won the toss and batted first and their openers found Dylan bowling a good line and length and Tristan bowling with some hostility. Tristan clean bowled Jack with a great delivery with the score at 16 after 4 overs. However this brought in the hard hitting county player Raphy who together with another County player, Victor, playing a more orthodox innings, took the score to 68 before Raphy was well caught by Sam off the bowling of Prabhav both of whom are under 10's and playing in the team due to a few absentees from our squad. Our hosts lost another wicket when Toby was run out by a combination of Will and Zac with the score at 83 in the 13th over. It was not until Victor retired on 30 that brought in Edward who took advantage of some loose bowling in the last 4 overs with some hard hitting to take the score to 143.
In reply only Will was able to cope with the opening bowlers and we soon found ourselves 3 wickets down for 12 runs. With the change of bowling Will took a liking to the leg spin of Victor and retired on 30. Robert with 11 and Nick with 18 batted sensibly and our innings closed on 101 for the loss of 7 wickets.
I was very pleased with the performance of the team in view of the number of under 10 and 11's playing, particularly Sam and Prabhav who bowled really well against a strong batting line up.

5 sports clubs amongst winners in the Jewson Building Better Communities competition.
