Great Kingshill U11’s v Chesham U.11’s

Great Kingshill win by 74 runs

Visitors Chesham batted first on a very cloudy evening and found Great Kingshill’s(GK) accurate bowling difficult to score against. Nick, this time bowling medium pace, again took 2 wickets at the start of the innings to set up the game nicely for GK. Zac also took 2 wickets and with Will finishing off with 2 against Chesham’s last pair, aided by a run out with an excellent fast and accurate throw from Sam, resulted in the visitors making a below par score of 238 for 9 wickets.
GK opened with Jacob and Dylan who batted sensibly against some accurate bowling. A change of bowling in the fourth over and Jacob took a liking to some short pitched bowling hitting 2 fours and a six to take the score to 232 from which Chesham were unable to claw back any initiative.
Sam and Tristan were next pair in taking the score to 250, Sam batted well hitting 25 runs which made up for running out Tristan with a suicidal run first ball faced. Tristan as usual gave us entertainment hitting a skier and being well caught by their captain and then being bowled trying a reverse sweep/pull. Brian and Joshua being our most inexperienced batters did their best and with the help of some inaccurate bowling the score moved to 261 after 12 overs. Zac and Nick batted well to take the score to 288. GK finished with 312 for 8 wickets with Oliver, batting with Will, hitting a six off the last over with Chris Pullan (Sam’s dad) spilling the catch standing just outside the boundary.
My thanks to Jo for scoring and all the parents for their vocal support and in their help with interval drinks and putting away benches etc after the finish of the game.
One league game to go against High Wycombe next Wednesday July 13th.
