We travelled to Marlow on a glorious sunny morning and having won the toss GK batted first. Marlow struck an early blow losing Will in the 2nd over but Oscar and Zac batted sensibly hitting the bad ball for 4 and continually rotating the strike with good running between the wickets. Zac retired on 33 with the score on 76, Sam joined Oscar taking the score to 99 before Oscar also retired on 33. Ollie Holmes and Sam took the score to 131 before Sam was stumped off their slow bowler, followed quickly by Tristan who decided to try and hit his first ball from the same bowler for six but missed and was bowled. Ollie Charlton then joined his namesake and both finished the innings off well hitting a couple of well struck 4's. Ollie H (15 n.o.) and Ollie C (10 run out on penultimate ball) took the total to 146 in our 20 overs. Our hosts opening batters started well against Tristan and Oscar taking their score to 38 before first change bowler Ollie Charlton came on and in his first over bowled one of their openers and in his second Tristan took an excellent one handed catch high above his head removing the hard hitting other opening bat. If it had been any of our other fielders it would have gone well over their head for 4. In his second over Ollie C also bowled their captain making his bowling figures 2 overs 3 wkts for 13 runs. When their no.4 bat was well caught by Nick Budden off the bowling of Nick Stoian this seemed to take the stuffing out of their innings, particularly when they lost 2 more wickets to run outs after excellent fielding and throws. When Nick Budden came on in the 18th over and took 2 wickets both bowled this made sure of the win for GK. It was an excellent all round performance by our team and we did very well to get the game finished in less than 2 hrs 30 minutes as the boys and particularly the dads at the game could all get home and watch England beat Panama in the World Cup. My thanks to Ian Gibson for scoring.
