Great Kingshill U13's double league defeat of Ballinger Waggoners
Great Kingshill U.13's travelled to Ballinger for the return league fixture. GK won the toss and put our hosts into bat on a 22 yard used wicket which proved to be of very low bounce and made runs difficult if the bowlers bowled a line and length. A great start when their star player, Ed Batchelor, was run out trying to complete a third run by Zac with an underarm throw with one stump to aim at . Sam took a good catch off the bowling of Dylan to remove their other opening batter and our hosts were 14 for 2 after 3 overs. Dylan then bowled their no.3 batter before their 4th wicket partnership made a recovery taking the score to 77 before Tristan took 2 very good catches off the bowling of Zac and Oli Charlton. One run later and Oli bowled their no.6 in the same over after which we were unable to take further wickets and Ballinger finished their 20 overs on 125 for 6.
Will and Oscar gave us another good start with Oscar retiring on 30, Will closely followed Oscar to the pavilion being run out for 11 runs then Zac scored a quick 9 before being bowled leaving Sam(17 n.o.) and Dylan(2) to reach the target with an over to spare, GK scoring 131 for 2.
Both teams seemed to find it difficult to bowl accurately which may have been the result of playing on a 22 yard pitch and the low bounce made it difficult for both wicket-keepers and explains the 110 runs given away in wides and extras by the two teams.
However, well done to the boys, it is a long time since GK have defeated Ballinger twice in one season.
