GKCC wilt under the heat of the weather and the HWCC batting at West Wycombe CC's picturesque ground.
Bowling first our bowlers seemed to be intimidated by the hard hitting HWCC opening batters and we were unable to repeat our recent performances and conceded far too many wides and no balls giving our hosts the equivalent of an extra 3 overs. With their full strength team out our hosts scored 180 with their top 4 batters either retiring at thirty runs or were out a few runs short of that target. In reply Will and Oscar both retired at 33 and 31 respectively, although they found it difficult to score quickly against the accurate opening bowlers who only conceded 11 runs in the first 4 overs. Our middle order batters were once again undone by spin/slow bowling, Sam hit a couple of lusty blows before being bowled and from 76 for 2 it soon became 91 for 6 . Any runs scored from then would help obtaining batting points and we eventually reached 129 for 7 thanks to Dylan(14) and Robert (12). This result meant that HWCC secured first place in Div 1 South and the batting and bowling points we achieved should have helped us maintain Div 1 status next season. We have our final league game against Beaconsfield and by winning that game we should finish in third place and with a full strength team there is no reason we should not achieve that target.
Great Kingshill CC - Under 13 won the toss and decided to bowl.
