GKCC Summer Outdoor Junior Coaching 2019

Dear Parents,

Great Kingshill Cricket Club are looking forward to the new cricket season and to welcoming you to our club for a full range of activities. Let’s hope for a similar summer of great weather to last year. Please find below a few details about the activities we are setting up.

ECB All Stars

After 2 years of great success, we are delighted to be running an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) All Stars Programme again in 2019. This is an 8 week programme targeted at 5 to 8 year olds (school years 1 to 3) . The cost of the programme is £50 per player, for which each boy or girl receives a number of goodies (All Stars shirt, cap, water bottle, ball, bat, bag ….that sort of thing) . The sessions are very well structured and designed by the ECB to maximize enjoyment and participation. As last year, we will also run a couple of taster sessions prior to the formal programme starting at a cost of £3 per player per session. All sessions will take place on Great Kingshill Common on Sunday mornings between 10.00 am and 11.15 am on the following dates:-

  • Sunday May 5th – All Stars Taster Session
  • Sunday May 12th – All Stars Taster Session
  • Sunday May 19th – ECB All Stars Programme Week 1, then every Sunday through to
  • Sunday July 7th – ECB All Stars Programme Week 8.

Numbers are building very quickly for the programme, so to avoid disappointment I would recommend that you book early, which you can do via the following link:-

Age Group Activities

I am pleased to announce that Luke Wright has agreed to be the Head Coach of our junior section. Luke leads Disability Cricket at the ECB, is an ECB Level 2 Coach and plays for GKCC 1st XI. As well as leading our junior coaching effort, Luke will continue to run a Disabled Cricket programme at GKCC. Expect to see innovative new ideas from Luke .

Once again we will be running junior training and matches for U9s right through to U19. The following are the training times for the different age groups.

  • U9/U10 – Sunday mornings between 10.00 and 11.30 am, first session 28th April
  • U11/U12/U13 – Sunday mornings between 11.30am and 13.00 pm, first session 28th April
  • U14/U15 – Monday evenings between 18.30 and 20.00 pm, first session 29th April
  • U16s to U19s – Train with the seniors on Thursday evenings between 18.30 and 20.00 pm, first session 25th April.

(For reference, U9 is school year 4, U10, school year 5 and so on.)

We are keen to include girls (see below) as well as boys. We are entering 10 teams into various leagues and cup competitions. We will have 2 x U9 and 2 x U10 teams and then an U11, U12, U13, U14 and U15 team in the Bucks Cricket Board Leagues. In addition, we are entering a team in the Vitality U19 T20 competition. Fixtures are already loaded on the Great Kingshill Cricket Club website if you are interested.

I have attached registration forms below, which for GDPS reasons, we need every parent to complete, even if you have registered with GKCC before. The registration costs in 2019 are £55 for the first sibling per family, £100 for 2 siblings and £135 for 3 siblings.

We will collect registration forms at the first outdoor sessions of the season.

Girls Cricket at GKCC

We are really keen to promote girls cricket at GKCC. I am delighted to announce that Shona Heal will lead girls specific activities at the club. Shona is one of only 2 ECB Level 2 qualified lady coaches in Buckinghamshire. Initially, for the first week or two, we would like the girls to attend the age group sessions referred to above with the boys. Once we have determined numbers and ages of girls for the new season, Shona will then set up some specific girls only training sessions , on Sunday mornings. We are looking to enter girls teams into a couple of tournaments. In addition, girls are allowed to play in the boys leagues in age group teams up to 2 years younger than their actual age. As you can see above, we are entering two teams into the Bucks Leagues at U9 and U10 level and our hope is that at least one of these could be a girls team.

I think that is enough for now. You can find a lot of information about the club via our website: -

Many thanks for reading this. We very much look forward to welcoming you to Great Kingshill Cricket Club this summer.

Best regards
